Aglianico and Taurasi
Aglianico is an ancient vine: its origins date back to the ancient Greeks who planted it in the areas of Avellino and Benevento. The Aglianico vine prefers volcanic soils in order to best express all its properties: it is no coincidence that important wines such as Taurasi DOCG are obtained from this vine. Often Aglianico wines also undergo a refinement process in wooden barrels in order to attenuate the tannin of young wines, sweetening it and making it refined. Since the wide diffusion of the Aglianico vine has determined different varieties, it has led to the registration in the National Register of Wine Grapes of two distinct types: Aglianico which is grown in Taurasi in Campania and Aglianico del Vulture which is located in Basilicata. In general, the Aglianico vine is distinguished by medium-sized leaves with a tribulated shape and a long and compact cluster. The grape of Aglianico, on the other hand, is small with a blue-black spherical shape and pruinose skin. On Vinolog24 you will find a wide selection of Aglianico wines that are distinguished by a ruby-red color and a fresh, full-bodied and fruity taste.
