San Felice
L'San Felice farm occupies a hamlet located in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, not far from the city of Siena. The complex has ancient origins, and was slowly built up around the Pieve di San Felice in Pincis, dating back to 714 AD. Today the property, owned by the Allianz S.p.A. group, is truly upscale, and in addition to wine and olive oil production, it also boasts a fantastic hotel, which recently became part of the Relais & Chateaux chain. The estate covers an immense area of 650 hectares, of which 140 are devoted to the cultivation of vines, located partly in the center of the Chianti Classico and partly in the area of the Brunello di Montalcino, interspersed with land dedicated to the production of oil, obtained from the more than 17,000 olive trees present. The terroir, thanks to the perfect combination of height above sea level and a microclimate characterized by significant temperature fluctuations, allows the best cultivation of the different grape varieties present, among which the following stand out sangiovese, colorino, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, pugnitello, petit verdot, trebbiano e chardonnay. In addition, in the vineyards, zoning has been carried out since the 1990s to identify those specific macro-areas in which each grape is best able to express itself, compatible with the geopedological characteristics of each zone. San Felice is an innovative winery that also serves as a bulwark of protection for the Chianti landscape, operating with sustainable practices that seek the lowest possible environmental impact and protection of biodiversity. Every year, bottles are produced that represent only the best of Tuscany, declined with different labels, perfect to meet the needs of every wine lover. A special note goes to "The Grey" and the "Red Knoll", both of which are different expressions of the new legislative typology introduced at the apex of all the production of Chianti Classico, namely the "Grand Selection”.
