Cantina di Caldaro Kaltern
The Kellerei Kaltern - Caldaro came to life in the early 90s, in 1992 to be exact, from the union of two historical wineries in the Caldaro area: the Bauernkellerei (Farmer's Cellar) and the Jubiläumskellerei (Cellar del Giubileo), both practically secular wineries, founded respectively in 1906 and 1908. This is how today the Kaltern winery gathers about four hundred members, who working a vineyard area that covers a total of about three hundred hectares, producing an average of one million annually and 800 thousand bottles. A reality capable of demonstrating how coexistence between the cooperative union and a high quality level of wines is possible, the Kaltern company sees its philosophy firstly based on a rigid and maniacal care of the vineyard, so between the rows, in spite of a particularly extensive vineyard park, the agronomic practices, especially for some plots, are close to biodynamics, and in any case respectful to the maximum of what is the balance of environment, nature and ecosystem. Following, in the cellar, the rules adopted are not very different, and in the sign of the most ancient local traditions, the main purpose is always to enhance and enhance as much as possible all that the season and the territory have been able to shape in the fruit. Here then comes to life labels that, all together, come to represent the thousand facets of a unique microcosm in the enological panorama of the Peninsula. Distinguished in the three different lines of "Classics", "Selections" and "Cru", from "Castel Giovanelli" to "Solos", from "Pfarrhof" to "Serenade", from "Vial" to "Saleit", passing through all the others, whether they are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet, Lagrein, Schiava and so on, in any case when the labels refer to the name Kaltern you can be sure that maximum excellence is guaranteed, for one of the most identifying sips of the territory that it is possible to meet.
