The Campogrande is produced on the Santa Cristina estate, located in the historic town of Cortona, which sits on a hill with extraordinary panoramic views. At the top of the hill is the modern Santa Cristina winery, opened in 2006 to renew the region's winemaking tradition, sixty years after the launch of the first vintage. The estate's winemaking tradition is based on attention to detail and the search for the highest quality, in harmony with the land. The winery, designed by Florence-based studio HYDEA, was built with minimal environmental impact criteria, respecting the surrounding area and using advanced winemaking technologies.

The Campogrande is an Orvieto Classico that evokes the freshness and pleasantness of the hilly air. It is made from Grechetto and Procanico grapes, harvested from the second half of September on a balanced, predominantly clayey soil with fluvio-lacustrine deposits typical of this hilly area. The grapes are harvested separately and brought to the winery for destemming-crushing, followed by cooling the must to 10°C to promote natural clarification.

Primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, not exceeding 18°C. Before sale, the resulting wine rests in low-temperature steel tanks until bottling. Campogrande perfectly represents Umbria, a region renowned for its balanced and elegant white wines.

Tasting Notes: by straw yellow color. The nose is intense and delicate with notes of orange blossom, apricot and peach. The palate is soft, fresh, with a savory finish and a fruity aftertaste.

Pairings: Perfect with fish, shellfish and cheese.

History The ORVIETO Controlled Denomination of Origin was recognized in 1971 and in the last forty years, it has experienced extraordinary growth in both quantity and quality: Orvieto is now one of the best-known Italian white wines in the world and alone accounts for about three-quarters of Umbria's D.O.C. wine production. The area DOC is divided into Orvieto Classico, which represents the area around the tufa cliff on which the city of Orvieto and its surroundings are located, and into Orvieto, which completes it to the north and south. The geological components of the territory - of volcanic origin - combined with the favorable and peculiar microclimate that distinguishes the valleys of the Paglia and the lower Tiber, are at the basis of the oenological fortunes that have been one with the city since time immemorial. It is no coincidence, in fact, that Orvieto is one of the few cities in the world whose name coincides with that of its own territorial wine.
