The Rosso di Montalcino is a wine produced in the area of Montalcino in Tuscany, best known for the production of Brunello (the name by which it is locally called the vine Sangiovese). Rosso di Montalcino differs from the latter mainly in the length of aging. It is in fact a wine young, which is marketed from the year following the harvest.

This wine is produced in the Pian delle Vigne estate of the family Antinori, which has a centuries-old tradition in wine production. The area of Montalcino is characterized by an extremely mild and temperate climate that allows grapes to ripen earlier than in even nearby areas such as Chianti.

Rosso di Montalcino bears the Denominazione di Origine Controllata label. It is produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, vine extremely widespread in Tuscany.
I vineyards rise at an altitude between 130 and 150 meters above sea level and are mainly exposed to the southeast. The soils tend to be clay and limestone, rich in skeleton.

The grapes are harvested in mid-September and after destemming and soft crushing are transferred to stainless steel containers where the alcoholic fermentation at a temperature of about 25°C. The time of maceration is 8-10 days.
At the end of malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to large wooden barrels. Here aging begins and lasts about 12 months.

Tasting notes: by ruby red color brilliant. Notes of ripe fruit, quince jam and plums mixed with floral notes typical of Sangiovese and toasted notes from aging in wood. The palate presents itself in all its pleasantness, soft, with lively but silky tannins. Its freshness and liveliness of taste are enhanced by a mineral and savory aftertaste, which also enhances in the mouth the hints present in the nose of ripe fruit.

Pairings: perfect for whole meal, its ideal pairing is with a great Florentine steak.
