The reflectors of international criticism that rightly illuminate the Barolo of Elio Fat do not scratch a peasant soul, proudly claimed and that draws strength and awareness from the wonderful vineyards of Monforte. The Gavarini farmhouse of the Grasso family sinks its roots in the distant thirties. Elio Grasso firmly believes in the peasant wisdom of his origins and for this reason in the seventies he proudly starts the second company season, made of tradition, competence and sensitivity compared to individual terroirs, overcoming the now remedy opposition between modernists and not. Monforte d'Alba is one of the municipalities of Langhe among the most evocative, at the borders of Alta Langa: the hills are covered by wooded coatings that characterize the microclimate. The choice to proceed with separate vinifications is aimed at enhancing the different variations that takes on the nebbiolo on the individual vineyards, thoroughing nature with vinifications in large barrels or barriques.
