Antonio Caggiano
It is one of the most beautiful and spectacular wineries in Campania: you walk amazed among tens of thousands of bottles resting in niches created between the stone walls. And then, everywhere, barriques where the great wines of Taurasi are refined: Macchia dei Goti, Salae Domini and Taurì. The founder, Antonio Caggiano has been for years a passionate and enthusiastic globetrotting photographer, from the cold of the Arctic to the African desert, from the United States to South America and then from the old family vineyard (Salae Domini) to the construction of his cellars that start in 1990. Antonio decides to found his company driven by an irrepressible desire to give voice to the history and traditions of his beloved Taurasi. The particularity of its spectacular cellars is immediately evident, walking through the numerous fascinating tunnels. It is not simply a place of barrels, bottles and vats, but a real museum of wine culture. In every corner, on every wall, and in the many recesses made from the stone walls, it is possible to see tools and utensils typical of the practice of winegrowing. The tools and hundreds of barrels are flanked by a variety of works of art in wood, glass and stone, some made by Antonio himself, others donated by artist friends that make the atmosphere even more suggestive. Today the company is run by Giuseppe, for all Pino, son of Antonio, who always helped by his father, through a rigorous work in the vineyard, and a passionate and careful enological interpretation, has contributed to the affirmation of a qualitative style of great personality, which has distinguished the Antonio Caggiano winery as a great interpreter of Irpinia wines.
