The many years that have passed since the founding of Baglio di Pianetto are told with the harvests, with the wine, with the productive maturity achieved in the vineyard whose goal is, always, a wine production of high caliber, where a balance between tradition and innovation exists and is achieved.
This challenge was born in 1997, when Count and Countess Paolo and Florence Marzotto embarked on this daring adventure, born from their love of nature and its fruits. Today, in the town of Santa Cristina Gela in the province of Palermo, the second and third generations flank the company's founders, running Baglio di Pianetto with the same enthusiasm and devotion as always. Among the nearly ninety hectares of property, about sixty are planted with vines and in production, while five are going through a replanting phase. Daily, in the subtle balance established between man and nature, the company's strategy is aimed at enhancing the territory, by means of the high professionalism of the people who run the winery and the vineyards. The eco-sustainable production of Baglio di Pianetto, confirmed and strengthened by the conversion to the organic wine of the entire agricultural estate, is also an expression of attention to the demands of those wine lovers who want certainty about what they buy and drink (better if without sulfites): an attention rewarded by increasingly diverse and widespread consumers around the world.
Thus, thanks to the Sicilian microclimate, which imbues the soil with sun and heat during the day and mitigates it at night with frequent sea breezes, and being able to take advantage of a winery designed to optimize resources and built to take advantage of gravity, delicate and natural wines are produced that are elegant and of high quality, very pleasant and that enhance the varietal characters of the grape varieties that have been bred in Sicily for centuries.
Baglio di Pianetto vinifies its grapes on the territories where it produces them, both on the Pianetto Estate near Palermo and on the Contrada Baroni Estate in the Noto Valley in the Noto area. Today Baglio di Pianetto is a complete production reality that is also active on the hospitality and eno-tourism side. The tour routes between vineyard and winery fully render the attention and craftsmanship with which Baglio di Pianetto produces its grapes and wines.
