Bertani
Synonymous itself with "Amarone," Bertani represents not only the most important winery in Valpolicella but also one of the most prestigious and well-known wineries in all of Italy. A history that begins very far back, exactly in 1857, with the founding of the winery by brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani. The latter came from a long period of learning spent at the school of the great Professor Guyot in France. Since then, tradition and innovation have always gone hand in hand, from the many investments in the vineyard and cellar to the purchase of the splendid Villa Novare, an estate that represents in the world the extraordinary work still carried out by the Bertani family. There are currently more than two hundred hectares under vine, divided among some of the best areas in the province of Verona, and the Villa Novare estate has been joined by the Grezzana winery, currently the headquarters and beating heart of the entire company, where the vinification, bottling and shipping phases are united. In the vineyard, under the direction of agronomist Andrea Lonardi, old plants that reach even 35 years of age alternate with new vineyards - of which the last were made in 2015 - and respect for the environment and the ecosystem comes first, so recently organic experimentation has also begun, with the intention of extending the regime, in the future, to the entire estate. In the winery, the team is well established and broken-in, with winemaker Christian Ridolfi leading the team for more than 15 years. Since 2014 merged into "Bertani Domains," after it had been purchased by "Tenimenti Angelini" in 2011, the Bertani winery produces more than two million bottles annually, proving to be a winery that, despite the passing of the years, constantly manages to renew itself, always staying in step with the times, while at the same time maintaining a style that best interprets classicism and makes the most of the oldest traditions, producing great Veneto reds, such as Amarone.
