Castello Banfi
There is no questioning the decisive role it has had (and continues to have) Banfi in spreading and consolidating the worldwide myth of Brunello. Located on the southwestern slope of Montalcino, it boasts an extension of 2,830 hectares, 850 of which are planted with vines, mainly Sangiovese, but also Moscato and international vines now perfectly integrated into the territory. Over the years, the winery's winning entrepreneurial model - in addition to Montalcino and a significant Piedmontese operation that has been in operation since 1979 - has also conquered other areas of Tuscany: Bolgheri, Maremma and Chianti Classico. Founded in 1978 by Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani, the Banfi is today coordinated by Cristina Mariani-May, the third generation of the family. For the quality of the wines speak the successes reaped by the Castello's labels over the years. Much grown over time are also the culture of hospitality and the combination of wine and art: the Castello di Poggio alle Mura has become a symbol of Tuscan hospitality and food and wine excellence, while the annual Jazz & Wine festival is one of the most popular events of the Montalcino summer.
