Erste + Neue

Alto Adige is one of the Italian regions whose surface destined for viticulture is among the least extensive: in fact, only 5300 hectares are dedicated to the production of wine. Despite this, thanks to the particular geographical position that allows you to cross different climatic bands, this region is able to present itself with multiple facets. The area around Lake Caldaro, a few kilometers from the city of Bolzano, is one of the most suitable for viticulture in all of South Tyrol. Within this framework, the Erste + Neue company operates, whose history represents a truly important piece of the economy of these areas. Founded in 1986, it is the result of the merger between the Cantina Sociale di Caldaro "Erste" and the Nuova Cantina Sociale di Caldaro "Neue", both historical realities of the area, operating since the early 1900s. A truly profitable union, which sees around 400 winemakers give their grapes to Erste + Neue, grown on a total area of about 230 hectares located between Lake Caldaro and the foot of Mount Mendola. Both native vines are grown, such as lagrein, schiava and gewürztraminer, as well as international varieties, such as pinot noir, chardonnay, merlot and cabernet. The operations in the vineyard and in the cellar are carried out daily with the utmost attention, because the aim of the company is to narrate each single territory, contextualizing it in the past year and in the grapes grown. Each year about 1,400,000 bottles are produced, a synthesis of innovation, tradition and enthusiasm, divided into four different lines for a total of about thirty labels: among these, the Cabernet Sauvignon "Puntay" 2012 is confirmed at the top quality. awarded by Gambero Rosso with the prestigious “Tre Bicchieri” and Moscato Rosa Vendemmia Tardiva. Fine and elegant bottles, lively and vibrant representation of a terroir capable of satisfying the needs of the most pretentious consumers.
