Tenuta L'Illuminata was the brainchild of Guido Folonari, heir to one of Italy's historic wine families, who in early 2001 decided to develop an ambitious wine project. "When I decided to start this adventure on my own, I really decided to pick up and go. What was I looking for? I didn't even know. I was looking for a place that would excite me. I was lucky enough to find three." Thus, in a short time, the three wineries made in the most prestigious production areas between Piedmont and Tuscany emerged on the Italian scene and were immediately recognized as Guido Folonari's "the three Killer B's."
