That of carignano is an ancient Sardinian vine variety, probably brought to the island by the Phoenicians. Typical of the southern areas of Sulcis, the carignano grape is often bred to alberello, and gives wines capable of telling like few others the story of the territory in which they are born. This is also the case of "Terre Rare," to be precise. Carignano del Sulcis produced in the Riserva version and labeled "Sella & Mosca."
Tasting Notes: by ruby red color color to the eye. Intense and varied bouquet on the nose, with hints of pomegranate, currants and wild blackberries followed by nuances of herbs and licorice. Warm and consistent in the mouth, caressing in the tannic texture, as fruity as the nose and spicy in the aftertaste. Long persistence.
Pairings: ideal with meats, it is excellent with baked veal cheek.
