The Chianti Classico Villa Antinori Marchesi Reserve Antinori wants to be a return to the origins. The family opened a new winery in Chianti Classico and so wanted to emphasize a historic label. The first vintage of this wine was produced in 1928. Until 2000, the product represented the idea of Chianti Classico according to the family's Antinori. The blend is composed of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet.

Its designation is Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva. The vines are grown in the historic area with guyot and spurred cordon pruning. The soils are set at an altitude of less than 700 meters just as the specification requires. The soils consist of a mixture of clay, limestone, sand and arenaceous substrates.

This allows good water drainage that preserves from harmful stagnation. The climate is particularly favorable. Good exposure and high temperatures in July and August favor good ripening of the grapes. The large temperature ranges between day and night also help to fix sugars and aromas.

Harvesting takes place between mid-September and early October, depending on the weather conditions of the vintage. Generally, Sangiovese grapes are harvested first and then Cabernet grapes. The two batches are vinified separately until the malolactic phase takes place.

The latter is conducted in stainless steel for the Sangiovese and in I and II passage barriques for the Cabernet. Following blending, the wine rests partly in large barrels and partly in barriques. Bottling will take place in June of 2 years following the harvest.

Tasting Notes: by ruby red color. Intense fruity notes of ripe cherry, cranberry and wild berries stand out on the nose, combined with pleasant, well-integrated aromas of toasted wood, tobacco and a slight balsamic hint. The palate is enveloping, vibrant, savory, with soft, velvety tannins. Long and persistent finish.

Pairing: All meal, enhances with main courses of meat, especially grilled. Perfect with the classic fiorentina steak.
