La Vernaccia V is produced by the company Bentu Luna, which is located in Sardinia between the historic Mandrolisai Barigadu regions in the heart of Sardinia. Both white and red wines come mostly from historic vineyards between 35 and 120 years old. Vernaccia comes from a small vineyard located on the coast of Oristanese, in the municipality of Riola Sardo.
The grapes are destemmed and then sent to fermentation by pied de cuve in terracotta amphorae. At 2/3 of the must, the fermenting must is pressed.
Tasting Notes: by straw yellow color, intense nose where it has slight macerative notes reminiscent of fresh apple peel. Fresh and juicy, hints of apple, long persistence.
Pairings: Excellent with first and second courses of fish dishes.

small vineyard on the coast of Oristanese at less than 5 m above sea level on sandy, loose soil, characterized by some clay presence, and a typical Mediterranean climate, marked by mild winters with limited rainfall and very hot, dry summers, cooled only by mistral fortivents and cool breezes that at night, blowing in from the sea, release good amounts of mineral salts on the skins of the grapes. |
Vinification | After a slow and careful destemming of the grapes, fermentation with spontaneous foot is started in terracotta amphorae. At 2/3 of fermentation the fermenting must is carefully and precisely pressed. At the end of fermentation, batonnage is continued to give body and volume to the wine. |
