Collio Formentini is a white wine prized for its aromas of dried fruit and flowers, typical of the Friulano grape variety. Although it is one of the most representative indigenous varieties of eastern Friuli-Venezia Giulia, spread widely in Collio Goriziano where the Formentini winery operates, Friulano is a difficult grape to grow because of its thin, delicate skin. This characteristic makes the berries susceptible to splitting and, consequently, mold or other diseases, often prompting producers to harvest the grapes slightly early.
