Trebbiano
Trebbiano is one of the most widespread white grape varieties in Italy, even if the finest Trebbiano wines are to be found in Tuscany and especially in Abruzzo, where levels of true excellence are reached, for example with Valentini or Emidio Pepe. Trebbiano grapes give life to wines that are often very delicate and not very persistent, although Trebbiano wine can change significantly depending on the terroir: a Trebbiano Spoletino will usually have a great acidity, excellent for sparkling wine. A Trebbiano Toscano (also Vin Santo uses this grape) will be more long-lived and full-bodied. A Trebbiano d'Abruzzo will certainly be complex and structured, also excellent for pairing with white meat-based second courses or first courses with mushrooms.
